Staff Analysis of the Legislation

SB 213 amends Article 2 of Chapter 5 of Title 21of the O.C.G.A to require that a campaign contribution disclosure report must be filed after an election year. Additionally, the bill changes reporting deadline dates during election years by changing one reporting date from March 31 to April 30 reporting date. In non-election years, constitutional officers, executive heads of state departments, and members of the General Assembly must submit campaign contribution disclosure reports on January 31 and June 30. All other elected state officials along with county officials and local officials must submit on June 30 and December 31. Finally the bill mandates that any person who makes contributions on behalf of candidates must submit campaign contribution disclosure report on December 31, regardless of whether or not the candidate is required to submit a report on that date.
